Kachin
State
On the
northern part of Myanmar is famous for its
snow caps mountain ranges, on the northern
edge lies the highest peak called
Khakaborazi about 5669 meters high. Many of
the wild life are sanctuary around
Khakaborazi are cold and ever green dense
forest and the closest range to Khakaborazi,
is from the base camp Putao.
Ecotourism in Kachin State
Putao
Situated in the north of Myitkyina, the
capital city of Kachin state, can reach only
by air route. The city surrounded with snow
peaked mountains and the weather is cold
around the year. Flora and Fauna can be seen
in the forest around Putao. There are also
many different ethnic minority tribes in
Kachin state.
This
area is famous for its Nature of originated
Flora, especially there are many various
kinds of orchids and even the world rarest
Black orchids can be found in this area. And
for fauna, one of the rarest animal species,
Takin (Budorcas Taxicolor), Red Panda (Ailurus
Fulgens), Black Bears, Black Deer, are all
endemic to this region.
Other
terrestrial species of Monkeys, Boars,
Mountain Goats can also seen on this region.
Various kinds of Butterflies can be seen in
this area on the month of January. The
Butterflies including such as an endangered
species can be found, among them are Kaiser,
Apollo, Bhutan, Glory and Birdwings.
The
trees such as different colors of
Rhododendrons, Maple trees and various kinds
of Bamboos are also seen in this area. The
month of January and April is the best month
to see the butterflies, flowers and orchids
in the icy forest.
Mountain Climbing in Kachin State
The
Highest Mountain in Myanmar is Khakaborazi
on the remote Northern tips of Naungmon
Township in Putao region. Bordering with
China in Kachin State. It's about 19296 ft
or 5881 meter high. One must have to travel
by flight to Putao, the nearest City to
Khakaborazi.
Expedition to Mt. Khakaborazi
This
virgin Peak is first made by Colonel Saw
Myint, of Myanmar Hiking and Mountaineering
federation, in 1956 and reached to the
height of 12000 ft.
The second successful attempt was made by
the Japanese mountain climber Mr. Ozaki and
Mr. Numar in 1996. And his expedition was
recorded as follows,
The journey started from Yangon on 18th July
1996 by flight to Putao.
After preparing the team for few days in
Putao, the expedition started this adventure
from Putao on 25th July and reached the
height of 13025 ft on 21st August, and on
24th August, they reached at the height of
14190 ft. On 25th August, they continue
climbing up the ice-clad mountain and
reached up to 15180 ft. They crossed and
walked along the Ice River on 26th, 27th and
28th August, and trekked up to the height of
16500 ft on the 29th August. After reaching
the height of 17820 ft on 13th September,
they stopped on the way for bad weather for
two days.
On the final day of 15th September, Mr.
Ozaki start climbing again at 7:15 AM in the
morning. Finally he reached to the peak at
19315 ft on the same day. After staying few
hrs on the top of this virgin peak, Mr.
Ozaki returned back to Putao.
This is the first successful climbing of Mt
Khakaborazi in Myanmar. In later years, many
attempts had been made by many of the
climbers; no one has been succeeded since
his successful attempt.
Expedition to Phungaung Ice-clad Mountain
Te
first expedition team from Myanmar Hiking
and Mountaineering Federation reached to
this 3000 meters Ice-Clad Phaungaung
Mountain in the early 1970s. Later years,
many amateur teams such as bird watchers,
butterfly watchers, researcher teams, and
video teams and many Tourists have been
experiencing to this mountain.
Myitkyina
The
capital city of Kachin State is situated on
the southern flank of Kachin State and
between the confluence of river Maykha and
Malikha, and this confluence is the source
of Ayeyarwaddy. Some ethnic Kachin tribes
can be seen around Myitkyina. Indawgyi Lake
